about

The sitar is a fusion instrument of the 13th century, a combination of the South Indian veena and the Persian rabab. Its latest major development was done by Pandit Ravi Shankar, who added two bass strings (Kharaj of Surbahar) to the sitar and who first popularized a combination of Western and Indian musics. As a continuation of fusing these traditions, Uwe Neumann with his Ragleela project focuses for more than 20 years on composing and performing Indian melody with Western arrangement and groove.
This CD was recorded in a "live" setting in a chapel transformed into a studio.
